Selectmen’s Meeting
2007 March 14

Members Present:  Frank Dumaine, Beno Lamontagne, and Larry Rappaport.

Others: Donna Caron, Heidi Lawton, and Steve Cass.

Selectmen signed all vouchers and manifests.

Mr. Lamontagne made a motion to have Larry Rappaport be the new Selectboard Chairman, Mr. Dumaine seconded the motion, motion passed.

Mr. Lamontagne made a motion to have Mr. Dumaine be the Selectboard Representative to the Planning Board, Mr. Rappaport seconded the motion, motion passed.

Mrs. Caron gave the Selectmen a report that Chief Cass did on offenses that occurred in 2004, 2005, and 2006.  Mr. Cass was present at the meeting to answer any questions that the Selectmen might have regarding this report.

Mr. Cass would like to hire one part-time person for the Police Department.  He has a gentlemen in mind.  The issue of bicycle patrol came up in regards to the Police Department.  Mr. Dumaine advised Chief Cass to look into Fort Meyers and Sarasota Florida police departments.

Mr. Lamontagne made a motion to let Chief Cass hire a part-time officer, Mr. Dumaine seconded the motion, Mr. Rappaport agreed, motion passed with full board approval.

Mr. Lamontagne is going on vacation to Florida for a week; he will not be here for the March 28th meeting.

Mr. Lamontagne mentioned that some of the lights were out on the bridge.

Mr. Lamontagne would like to have a report that is read at Town Meeting describing how the different departments save money on things during the year.  

Mr. Lamontagne also feels that next year at Town Meeting, the town should invest in two wireless remotes for people who ask questions because they cannot be heard.  He thought that maybe some of Ron Patterson’s kids from school could bring the microphone to people in their seats.

Mr. Lamontagne would like Mrs. Caron to check into having Mr. Patterson be the Town Moderator if Mr. Frizzell does not want the position.  

The Selectmen also liked the idea of mentioning in the Town report when the Town gets or uses grants to help with things.

The Selectmen would like to know what the fees are that are being charged to Non-core towns.

Mr. Lamontagne made a motion to accept the February 28 and March 7 minutes, Mr. Dumaine seconded the motion, Mr. Rappaport agreed, motion passed with full board approval.

Business for next meeting: Casella and the Riverwalk.
