Minutes of Colebrook Energy Committee Meeting Tuesday, February 10, 2009
Those Present: C. Gueymard, K. Thomas, K. McKinnon, M. Whitaker, B. LaPerle, D. Harris,
J. LaCoy, J. Moran
Meeting was called to order at 7:10
Names for the Colebrook Energy Committee were submitted to the Colebrook Select Board. They where: Lisa & Mike Whitaker, Kevin McKinnon, Julie Moran and Richard Harris. Kevin will petition the board on Wednesday 2/11/09 to determine if this docket on names meets the board's approval.
Website still not up so it was decided to table the effort until June by which time a clearer perspective should be available as to the status of the two committee's roles. It was suggested that the committee consider contacting local schools and the Boy Scouts to try and find an individual who might be interested in developing the website as a project. One contact mentioned was Jules Kennett.
Kevin asked that members from the committee attend the Pay as You Throw public hearing being held on Wednesday night, February 18th at the Town Hall to help support the effort. Julie volunteered to do a short editorial for next week's paper to help promote interest. Kevin went on to say that he was planning a trip to Victoraville, QC to look into transferring local solid waste and recyclables to that facility. He said that he was looking into the possibility of getting other entities involved to share the cost and thus hopefully lower the rates.
Kevin also stated that the owners of the Connecticut Lakes Watershed were seriously considering putting in hydro-electric turbine in the Lake Francis, Murphy Dam complex. He also related how, unfortunately it would not affect an offset in our local electric bills.
The district heating project was briefly discussed in conjunction with the Economic Stimulus Package money and someone reported that it appeared in a meeting in Concord, that there was dissension from the representatives from lower parts of the state who felt that there was too much money earmarked for district heating projects in Coos County.
