We have touched up all the roads at this point in time, however that is not to say they are graded per se. With the rain we've had grading is at a standstill. We are also looking at spreading liquid chloride rather than flake. Dave found us two 250 gallon plastic tanks and we will be experimenting with this in the next couple of weeks. We will be covering the rocks we put in mudholes with bankrun gravel.
Gravel crushing and winter sand will be out to bid so we can do road projects and repairs.
We haven't finished the crosswalks due to the rain.
One of our sewer pumps has burned out at the main sewer station on Bridge St. We are shopping for a replacement now. The dealer we had can't get us a pump for 8 weeks.
Thursday the 17th, April and I gave a tour of the sewerage plant and ran practice laboratory tests with Mr. Hastings' 9th grade Biology class. The kids seemed to enjoy it and so did we despite the rain.
The trash cans are all out on Main St. We pick up the trash once per week. The pad for the electronics recycling building is in place. By July 1st we must recycle all video display devices; TV's, computer monitors, LCD's and plasma displays. The cost for us is going to be approximately 12 cents per pound plus trucking. I will have more information on this very soon. I would like to run an ad in the paper with this information in this paragraph with a start date of June 24th. We will have to have empty containers and I'll also be ordering some gaylord boxes for storing the electronics in.
I ask also that the Board start to consider a pay-as-you-throw program. People would buy their trash bags (usually about $2.00 to $3.00 per bag). The bags are marked in some manner and those are the only bags accepted at the facility. No more compactor trucks dumping in the hopper. The other towns have set up private enterprise accounts for the transfer stations and they have run pretty close to break-even or a small loss.
The lawn at Ron Hughes has been repaired (we had a water main break there last winter). The sidewalk repairs will be advertised along with the section of sidewalk on Colby St. down by the turn to the ballfields where the snack shack is.
The Ford 450 is ready to sell and Donna will be able to advertise it as such.
We have also been busy at the cemetery digging for spring burials. The water is on now for anyone that wants to water plants.
