Town Seal
03-2007 March

Public Works performed from March 1st to March 23rd.

Priority is to plow and sand our roads, parking lots, and school lots.
We have been out every day thawing out frozen culverts. There are over 300 culverts on our town roads, so if you notice one with water dammed up in front of it, please let us know. We try to check all our roads each morning, but by afternoon water may show up with the warmer temperatures.

The week of 3-16-07 we had warm weather and mud. The nights were warm also making it impossible to grade roads until Wednesday night, at which time we smoothed out Piper Hill, Hughes, and South Hill Roads. We will do more of this in the weeks ahead, weather permitting.

The guys rescued a file cabinet, 2 bookcases, and 2 storage bins with doors out of the Transfer Station. We are giving them a new coat of paint and a new home in the garage and the lab. There was also a sand-blaster salvaged out of the trash which we will put to good use cleaning equipment for painting.

We put one of the open top containers from the Transfer Station in the garage for repairs. It had many rust holes to patch which Re-run did using scrap metal from the Transfer Station. This will extend the life of the can 2 or 3 more years.

All monthly reports have been completed and submitted to the state and EPA. We had an inspection of the lab and Wastewater Treatment system by an EPA representative on 3-15-07. We have some deficiencies to address to come into compliance. The report will be here by the first week of April.

Sincerely,

Kevin F. McKinnon
Public Works Director
