We have had a wet couple of weeks!
We are covering the road sections that had rocks in them with bank-run gravel. We haven't graded any roads due to the rains.
Our new truck is in Barre, Vt. to get outfitted and will be ready in July.
Winterset is going to give us a price on replacing the Washburn Bridge. Norman Brooks says he can build it better and stronger for a competitive price. It will be a couple of weeks before they have their numbers ready. Sheldon Gray also asked about putting in a price which I told him is fine. In discussing this with Donna we thought we would put a notice in the paper in case anyone else is interested.
We are busy mowing grass around all the pump stations and garage as weather permits! Grass does grow fast this time of year!
I talked to Hydro-Source and the bids for drilling the wells are ready.
The electronics recycling will be ready for July 1st.
We had some problems with sewer pumps but have replaced and rebuilt the troublesome ones.
Rodney has completed the generator hook-ups to all the stations! We now have backup power for all water and sewer pump stations.
The Rite-Aid project is progressing; the water is off to the buildings except for the old NAPA building. We couldn't find the shutoff but turned off the water in the cellar where it comes through the wall. When excavating starts we'll find the outside valve.
Bill Pulciver of P M Construction has allowed us to salvage a lot of material from the site. We have enough fiberglass insulation to insulate all the walls in the first half of the storage building next to the garage. We also have an oil hot air furnace for that same building. There are three parts bins 3' x 6' with multiple bins in them. There are two parts shelves 2' wide 5' tall and 20' long. There is a small hot water heater which is the same size as our heater at the garage.
Dave has been working diligently on the "Solarbee" sewerage treatment project. If you recall Solarbee had contacted us last year with some new process for lagoon systems; cutting electrical costs and maintenance expenses. Solarbee has three projects they set up in NH last year that have been monitored by DES. These projects have run through the winter and performed well. We currently spend an average of $33,817.00 a year just on aeration at the lagoons. Solarbee can cut this cost by approximately 2/3rds and eliminate our need for aerators. The cost of this project is $208,748.00. We are currently talking to Public Service about a "buy back" arrangement to see if funding is available. Bruce Richards of Solarbee will do a presentation for us if we want one.
