July Public Works Report

This month much of our time was spent on Spring and High Streets to finish up the project there. The streets were both prepped for paving and new pavement put down by Pike.

Paving was also done on East Colebrook Rd., Keazer's hill on Bear Rock Rd., and a portion of Titus Hill Rd. east of Skyline Drive.

We also had a water leak off Spring St. which was repaired.

The bridge lights are working again! We installed bulbs with a heavier filiment; hopefully curing the short lifespan we had with the older bulbs.

Ditching on Titus Hill Road was started at the foot of the hill just off Main St. and has been done up to Kevin Hayne's house. We encountered a lot of ledge but managed to get the ditchline back off the pavement. This project will continue into August.

We placed 2- 18" culverts on the Willy Rd. alleviating a water problem there which was also having an adverse effect on Bear Rock Rd.

We hauled gravel to numerous washouts around town to keep roads passable and will be grading roads next month.

The groundbreaking at the old Landfill took place on Thursday, 7-28-05 and constuction will start next month also. This project has been over two years in the making, but will save the taxpayer a huge amount of tax dollars. We look forward to the commencement of this construction.

We have also completed the test well drilling for new water well siting. A preliminary report is being done now which is required by NH Department of Environmental Services. This is the first step in the permitting process which normally takes 12 to 18 months to complete. Hopefully by this time next year we will be nearly done with this process.

There will also be a river stabilization project on the Connecticut River later this summer or early fall. We have completed the paperwork for this and are waiting for approvals now. This project will be run by the Conecticut Joint Commissions who applied for and received grant monies for this.

Sincerely'

Kevin F McKinnon

PW Director
